Moore County native, Dr. Kevin Patel, is the new owner of Dogwood Dental after purchasing the practice from retiring Dr. Christine Gatti.
Kevin Patel was born and raised in Moore County in the Carthage/Whispering Pines area. He graduated Union Pines and went on to attend N.C. State and then East Carolina where he received his doctorate. He completed his residency in West Virginia and has now returned home to fulfill his dream of opening his own dental practice.
“When I began my academic career, I always knew I wanted to learn a skill, come back home, and use it to give back to the community that helped me get to where I am today. That’s what it’s all about for me. Not forgetting where you came from and giving back to the community,” said Dr. Patel.
“Since being home, I’ve had the privilege of treating old classmates, old co-workers, and family friends. Having them trust me with their dental care has brought things full circle and made me realize that all the hard work in school was well worth it,” added Dr. Patel.
Dogwood Dental is on U.S. Hwy 1 in Aberdeen and the name will change to Dogwood Family Dental. Dr. Gatti is now retiring after 20+ years at that location. She will continue to see patients until July 1st. Dr. Patel is seeing patients on a limited basis until then while the office is being remodeled.
Dr. Patel knows that a visit to the dentist may be stressful to some people, and that is why he is remodeling the building and grounds for a more calm and soothing environment.
One of the biggest assets of the practice are the great views from the dental chairs. The exterior gardens help contribute to the calming nature of the practice and help alleviate anxiety from patients visiting the dentists.
Dr. Patel will begin seeing patients full-time on July 1st. They will offer general dentistry along with root canals, crowns, implants, and dentures. The office accepts a variety of insurance plans and plans to offer discounts to people without insurance.
“Growing up in this community has also given me a special point of view as to how difficult it is for patients to access affordable dentistry. That is why one of the missions of Dogwood Family Dental is to partner with employers such as Moore Regional Hospital, the military, police and fire departments, as well as Moore County Schools to become in network with their insurance carriers and making our care more affordable,” said Dr. Patel.
“For those who don’t have insurance plans, we have lowered our fees to accommodate them as well. Currently, we are in network with Ameritas, Principal, United Concordia, Delta Dental, Sun Life Financial, as soon to include Blue Cross Blue Shield,” Dr. Patel said.
