A Northern Moore County car crash has claimed the life of a man. This is the third fatality accident in less than a week Sandhills Sentinel has reported.Â
The single-vehicle accident occurred Friday around 8:30 a.m. on Dover Church Road, almost a mile and a half west of Westmoore Fire Department.Â
The car flipped upside down near the woods, and the driver was trapped inside the vehicle. A helicopter was called to the scene.
Firefighters from Westmoore and Robbins cut the passenger side door off the car to extract the single occupant. The man was declared deceased after being removed from the vehicle. The helicopter and other medical units were canceled.Â
State Highway Patrol couldn’t locate an ID, and the victim was not identified at the time of publication.
According to highway patrol, the man was traveling east on Dover Church Road when he ran off the road and hit a small tree. The car flipped and landed on its roof down an embankment. No brake or swerve marks indicate the driver tried to correct running off the road.Â
According to authorities, it’s possible the accident was the result of a medical event. The car was registered to Montgomery County.
