A 32-year-old Aberdeen man was arrested Thursday following a reported domestic disturbance near U.S. Highway 1 and John McQueen Road, police said.
According to an official release from the Aberdeen Police Department, Aberdeen officers responded to the residence on Nov. 14 and found an adult male, an adult female, and a juvenile at the scene. Their investigation revealed that the man, identified as Chaquwann Stubbs, had allegedly assaulted both the female and the child.
Stubbs is subsequently facing charges of felony assault by strangulation, misdemeanor domestic violence, assault on a child under 12, misdemeanor child abuse, and injury to personal property.
Authorities also discovered Stubbs had an outstanding warrant for previously communicating threats.
During a search related to his arrest, officers found alleged marijuana in Stubbs’ possession, leading to an additional charge of possession of marijuana.
Stubbs was taken before a Moore County magistrate and is being held without bond, pending a hearing before a judicial official.
All suspects and persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
