A local man was arrested last week in connection with a fraud investigation that originated in Florida, according to the Aberdeen Police Department.
Andrew Bowman, 39, of Aberdeen, was taken into custody on June 16 after investigators identified him as a suspect in a case involving allegations of financial deception and misuse of computer systems.
The investigation began April 25, when the department received a report from a police agency in Florida concerning a resident who had accepted payment for work but failed to complete the job, keeping both the money and property involved.
According to an official press release from the Aberdeen Police Department, Aberdeen investigators reviewed documentation submitted by the victims and examined financial records and communication between the parties. Their findings led to warrants being issued for Bowman on charges of obtaining property by false pretenses and accessing computers.
Bowman was located and arrested by Aberdeen officers. He appeared before a Moore County magistrate and was given a $10,000 secured bond.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
