After her retirement she joined the Moore County E.C.A. serving as county president and chairing the Kitchens & Moore Home Tours for 18 years-raising thousands of dollars for local charities.

She was a member of the board of directors for the Boys & Girls Homes of NC and created a golf tournament and held luncheons to benefit this charity.

She enjoyed house decorating and teaching her many handicraft skills to Moore County residents.
