May 30, 1957.  Royal Oak, Michigan…Carol Elizabeth Moeller came into the world.  She came to a mother and father, a brother, and a sister who loved her very much.  As she grew, she demonstrated many talents in music, storytelling, art, and math; she loved baking neon cakes and cherished every animal she met.

Growing up in Raleigh, NC, she also lived in Hattiesburg, MS and Boone, NC, graduating from Watauga High School in 1975.  Her friends knew her as a sweet, supportive, caring confidante, someone fun to be around.  Sandhills Community College (Associate of Arts — 1979) followed, then Appalachian State (Bachelor of Science – Computer Science, 1984).  Combining a desire for precision, math, and caring in her work, she received her certification as a phlebotomist (1986), working with Roche Labs until 1993.  Of her many varied jobs, her favorite was working with “the guys” at the Moore County Water Treatment Plant – she loved the team and the responsibility of managing the complex systems there.  She settled herself in her beloved Aberdeen home, a 1930s bungalow hugged by pines and magnolias.

Her talents continued to develop through life. She was a woman who COULD:  She sang and played the guitar and piano, wrote poetry and short stories, created superb crewel work and crocheted blankets, and created laughter with her quick observations.  She was a FRIEND:  Shy and reserved, once a friend, she was a friend for life, listening with compassion, offering consolation, keeping her promises, fiercely championing justice.  Above all, she was a woman who LOVED:  She loved her friends, her family, her beloved pets, and her Church family, the members of the Pinehurst Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She will be missed.

She passed away on August 16, 2018 and is survived by her brother, William H. Moeller (Gail) and her nieces, Amanda (Jason) Hackney (Spring Hope, NC), and Lauren (Ashley) Moeller (Greensboro, NC); her sister, Marilyn J. Moeller (Denver, CO); and her cousins, Richard (Mindy) Moeller, Ann Dilly, and Kay Dummier (Michigan).  She will be buried in a private family ceremony at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Nashville, NC, next to Carl and Margaret Moeller.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 9800 US Highway 15/501 – (910) 692-8085 on Thursday, August 30, from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.  Come when you can to share your stories of Carol – we would love to hear them!
