Obituary for Charles Ellis Bryant of Aberdeen

Charles Ellis Bryant, age 90, of Aberdeen, North Carolina went to his Heavenly home on Thursday, August 1st, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Charles was born in Moore County on September 18, 1933 to the late Rufus Ellis Bryant and Ida Key Bryant. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend and will be deeply missed by all who loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters: Rose, Betty Mildred, Wilma, Tennie, Ruth, and brothers: Herman, Ralph, Billy, Frank, and David.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 70 years, Margie Buchanan Bryant; daughters, Charlene Bryant of Monroe, NC, Sandra Bryant Greene of Carthage, NC, Dawn Bryant Wright (Jennings) of Laurinburg, NC; grandchildren, Ashley (Matt) Kemp, Aaryn (Samuel) McKenzie, Ryan Greene, Richard (Brittany) Parrish, Brittany (Darin) Parrish, Bryant (Ashley) Wright, Tiffany (Justin) Wright, and 18 adoring great-grandchildren.

Charles had a work ethic that set him apart working from a young boy on the farm with his family, then owning and operating the Sinclair Service Station in Carthage, moved to Laurinburg and worked for John Deere, then settled at Abbott, as the Maintenance Supervisor in Laurinburg, NC where he retired in 1996.

He could build anything, fix anything, and if there wasn’t a tool for it, he made one!  He was an avid fisherman, prankster, and loved all things John Deere, and anything with a motor.  He restored cars and tractors from scraps to custom, bumper to bumper.  He made cherished pieces of furniture for all of his family by hand in his workshop.  He even designed and constructed cast iron wood stoves identified by a copper plate engraved with the special “Bryant” trademark.  He was the “Charles of All Trades”!  But at the end of the day, he was proud of and loved his wife and family more than anything, and bragged on them often!
