Donald Eugene Davis, age 85, of Lakeview, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2020 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Gregg Newton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m.

Donald was born in Boalsburg Pennsylvania on April 19, 1934 to the late Joseph Albert Davis and Adelaide Confer. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a sister, Josephine King, brothers, Raymond and Ralph Davis.

Donald proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army and also served two tours in Korea. He graduated from Pennsylvania State Police Academy in 1967. Was a patrolman at State College Pennsylvania, Southern Pines, NC, Narcotics Agent for Moore County Sheriff’s Office and retired from Pinehurst Police Department as Detective Sergeant. He gave many years of service to his  country, community and church and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy McNeill Davis; children, Patty Goins of Texas, Kelly Shaw (Wayne) of Cameron, Lisa Davis of Lakeview, Lori Von Canon (Ken) of West End, Brett Davis (Leigh) of South Carolina and Bart Davis (LaNae) of Carthage; sister, Shirley Biddle of Jacksonville NC; sixteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Donald Davis to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, P O Box 386, Southern Pines NC 28387.
