Elwood Warren Burnell, age 82, died Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at his home.
A Funeral Mass will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pinehurst with Rev. John Forbes officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Texie J. Burnell, a son, Elwood Anthony Burnell (Johna) of Fayetteville, a daughter, Deborah Jane Munoz (Rick) of Dallas, TX, a brother, Albert Wesley Burnell (Ellen) of Summerfield, FL, grandchildren, Alexandra, Jerriann, Madison, Joseph, and Jessica, 1 great grandchild, Eliana.
Mr. Burnell was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a retired teacher and coach and was also an avid golfer.
