Fredrick Charles Stephenson, 85, of Woodlake, passed away at the FirstHealth Hospice on Saturday, May 12th.

A funeral service will be held at the Boles Funeral Home, 425 W. Pennsylvania Ave. Southern Pines, Friday May 18th, 11:00. A committal ceremony will be held at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave. Raleigh, NC. At 1:30 P.M.

Fred was born in Spangler, PA. to the late Frederick and Sue (Brown) Stephenson. He was raised in Erie, PA and was a graduate of East High School, class of 1950. After graduation Fred served his country in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in S. Korea. After his honorable discharge, he returned home and married Patricia Ann Trude in 1953. Fred worked for GE before starting a career as a Manager for IBM. During his career, he was transferred to Kingston, N.Y. before coming to Cary, N.C. in the mid 1960s. Fred had served as the Little League Baseball Commissioner in Cary in the late 1960s. After his retirement in the 1990s, he and Pat moved to Woodlake. Fred had been a member of Christ King Lutheran Church in Cary and Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Southern Pines.

Fred is survived by his wife Pat Stephenson, of 65 years; his sons Bruce Stephenson, wife Deb and Mark Stephenson; daughter Debbie Stephenson; sisters Hazel Siembida, Joanie Terhune and Ann Markey, husband Pat; granddaughters Kathryn, Katelin and Nikki; and great – grandchildren Camden, Callie and Kayleigh.
