Gerald Anthony Durso, Jr., 70, of Aberdeen passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, January 27, 2022.
He was born December 16, 1951 in Cook County, Illinois to the late Gerald and Gloria Salla Durso.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years Danita Durso; his mother Gloria White; his children Devin Brito, Michele Wright (Corey), Gerald Durso, III (Andrea), William Priest (Patricia), and Danelle Phelps (Justin); 10 grandchildren two great-grandchildren and his brother Vincent Durso (Mercedes).
Gerald grew up in Tampa, FL and graduated from Robinson High School. While there, he was the first athlete to hit a home run in an organized game, out of the newly dedicated A.T. Rollins field, the new home of the Robinson High School baseball team. His love of the game led him to coach his sons in Tampa youth as well as a longer stint with a girls’ travel softball team. Gerald liked to fish, and loved to travel with one of his favorite spots being Key West, FL. Gerald was a loving husband and father and dedicated to his entire family.
A celebration of life will be held February 19, 2022 from 11:30 AM -2:30 PM at the Riverhouse Waterfront Restaurant, 995 Riverside Drive, Palmetto, FL 34221.
