Irene Sikora Kovatch, 97, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at her home in Foxfire Village, NC.
Born May 16, 1926 in Nelsonville, OH to the late Frank and Bronislawa Salva Sikora, she was one of their 12 children.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 23, 2023 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Boles Funeral Home, 35 Parker Lane, Pinehurst, NC 28374. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 300 Dundee Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Morganton Road, Southern Pines, NC 28387.
Irene retired from Reliance Electric, in Euclid, OH after 30 years of service. In 1982, after their retirement, she and Carl moved to Foxfire Village. Irene loved golfing, bowling, sewing and playing the organ and accordion.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carl Albert Kovatch in 2004; as well as all 11 of her siblings.
She is survived by her sons; Duane Carl Kovatch (Joan), Dale Edward Kovatch (Ethel), John Robert Kovatch (Denise); daughter, Diane Kovatch Bogatay; three grandchildren, Jimmy, Ashley, and Mallory; two great-grandchildren, Grayson and Scarlet; and many other extended family members.
