Jean Mattocks, age 87, passed away at her home on Thursday, May 25, 2023.
Born on September 27, 1935, in Moore County, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Pauline Greene Morrison.
She was a graduate of Blowing Rock High School. Jean worked for Powell Funeral Home part time for many years. She also worked for Stein Mart in Aberdeen and could be found most every morning at Granny’s Donuts drinking coffee and visiting with all of those who came in.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Thomas “Shag” Mattocks.
Jean is survived by her children: Mitchell Mattocks of Jacksonville, FL and Meredith Mattocks (Jimmy) of Southern Pines; sister: Pat Wallace of Hamilton, Ohio; brother: Michael Morrison (Diana) of Savannah, GA; 2 grandchildren Megan Gruber (Scott), Jon Mattocks both of Jacksonville, FL and 1 great grandchild Olivia.
A memorial graveside service will be held at a later date at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Southern Pines.
