Ryan David Lund 40, of Carthage, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2023, at FirstHealth/Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
Ryan was born April 25, 1983, in Duluth, Minnesota, to Mark and Diane Lund. He graduated from Duluth East High School in 2001.
Ryan was the drummer for several local bands. He moved to Minneapolis in 2005 where he discovered his love of cooking. He was mentored by celebrated Chef Lucia Watson and worked to become the Executive Chef of Lucias in Uptown, Minneapolis. Ryan was also cooking instructor at Kitchen Window in Uptown. He went on to launch the Ninetwentyfive restaurant at The Hotel Landing in Wayzata, MN. After moving to the Southern Pines area in NC, Ryan took over Etalia. Later, he was Chef at Wolcott’s Restaurant and most recently, the Executive Chef at The Dormie Club.
He is survived by his parents; daughters, Vivian and Georgina Lund with their mother, Susan Wiesner of Pinehurst, NC; brothers, Andrew Lund of Holly Springs, NC, Thomas Lund and Sean Lund both of Vass, NC; several aunts and uncles; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
