One injured after shooting near Robbins

A female was shot in the foot in the 700 block of Mount Carmel Road outside of Robbins on Monday.

Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields tells Sandhills Sentinel that at approximately 8:15 p.m., an elderly man allegedly shot his daughter in the foot.

The two are neighbors, and the incident happened between their houses. The father then went back inside his residence.

When deputies arrived, they were able to remove the firearm and detain him without incident. The daughter was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities said the man has mental health issues and was also taken to the hospital for evaluation.

The investigation is ongoing. At this time, it is undetermined if the shooting was accidental or intentional. Officials said charges are pending.

This is a developing story and will be updated when more information becomes available.
