One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident on Central Drive in Southern Pines on New Year’s Eve. The accident occurred at the intersection of Fairway Drive at 3 p.m. This was one of four accidents that happened within minutes of each other in Moore County Friday afternoon.
The accident occurred when a Nissan Frontier truck was traveling on Central Drive and was struck by a Chrysler minivan. The impact sent the truck into a telephone pole and then slammed into a tree. The minivan also suffered extensive damage and was off the roadway. The driver of the truck was transported by EMS with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the minivan was not transported.
Traffic on Central Drive was rerouted while emergency crews worked.
Southern Pines Police Department is investigating the cause of the accident.
Responding to the scene were Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, and Southern Pines Police.
