A man was killed on Friday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on U. S. 1 South between Pinebluff and Hoffman.
A passerby called 9-1-1 around 1:30 p.m. and said the collision happened at the county line. Units from Moore County and Richmond County responded to the scene. Fire units found the wreckage about a mile south of the county line.
N.C. State Highway Patrol says the man was driving southbound in a Jeep Cherokee when the vehicle ran off the road. The driver overcorrected, and he lost control going off the right shoulder. The vehicle hit a ditch, which caused the Jeep to flip multiple times. The single occupant was ejected from the vehicle.
First responders arrived at the scene to find the driver at least 50 feet from where the Jeep came to rest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers say speed was likely a factor but continue to investigate the crash.Â
