Pinehurst Police make arrest in armed robbery case

The Pinehurst Police Department has made an arrest in an armed robbery case.

The robbery took place on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 6:30 p.m. off Burning Tree Road.

“A juvenile has been arrested and is in custody,” said Pinehurst Police Department in a statement on social media on Oct. 7. “Additional arrests are expected.”

The police were originally searching for a male passenger of a blue Honda CR-V.

“As officers arrived in the area, the suspect vehicle was observed on Linden Road near St Andrews Drive,” said Pinehurst Police Department after the crime occurred. “A male passenger exited the vehicle and fled on foot as the suspect left the area. The male passenger was described as short, wearing a dark colored hoodie, blue jeans and carrying a dark colored backpack.”

The police department announced an update on Oct. 4. “The PPD would like the community to know this was an isolated incident and did not involve any residential homes.”
