Pinehurst Medical Clinic (PMC) announced that its cardiology diagnostic testing department has been accredited in echocardiography by the International Accreditation Commission (IAC) for 20 years, earning the IAC 20-Year Bronze Accreditation Milestone Award. PMC currently offers echocardiography in Pinehurst and Sanford locations. PMC cardiology providers are one of 336 accredited facilities that have qualified for this milestone for February 2023.
The IAC is a non-profit, nationally recognized accrediting organization that is committed to advancing appropriate utilization, standardization and quality of diagnostic imaging and intervention-based procedures.
As an IAC-accredited facility, PMC cardiology providers have undergone a rigorous review process for their echocardiography services. This process evaluates the skill of the team member performing the evaluation, the type of equipment used, the previous training and education the team has had with a demonstrated commitment to continuous education, and the accuracy of diagnoses. IAC accreditation is granted every three years.
“For the last 20 years, our PMC cardiology providers and team members have been ensuring their echocardiography services meet and exceed the high standards of the IAC,” stated Brandon Enfinger, PMC’s chief executive officer. “This recognition is a testament to the team’s devotion to clinical excellence through delivering the highest quality of care to our patients and the communities we serve.”
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, heart disease is the number one cause of death in the United States. In fact, one person dies every 34 seconds in the U.S. from cardiovascular disease. PMC cardiology providers are committed to improving these statistics by providing best-in-class cardiovascular care, serving approximately 20,000 patients and performing more than 13,000 echocardiograms annually in the Sandhills.
