Police investigating shooting at Aberdeen Food Lion

Aberdeen Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in the Food Lion parking lot on Highway 5.

The 911 call came in just after 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

“Officers secured the scene and began looking for injured persons and property damage,” wrote the Aberdeen Police Department on its Facebook page. “None of the involved persons or vehicles were still present.”

Officials said Dalyne Chaquiel Balse, 31, of Aberdeen, was sitting in his vehicle when shots were fired at his car. Balse drove himself to FirstHealth in Hoke County to receive care for a gunshot wound to his right foot.

No one inside the store was hurt.

Aberdeen Police cordoned a section of the parking lot with crime tape and marked about 15 shell casings on the ground.
