Nancy L. Talton, Executive Director of the Sandhills Area and Land Trust (SALT), visited the Kiwanis Club of Seven Lakes during the club’s weekly meeting, June 27.  SALT is a non-profit serving the North Carolina Sandhills, the watersheds of the Lower Cape Fear, Deep River, Little River, and the Drowning Creek-Lumber River basins.  In its 26 year history, SALT has conserved over 14,000 acres of land in 100 places containing 89 miles of rivers and streams.  The Kiwanians learned that the Moore County long leaf pine has the most diverse eco-system of all trees in the area, and Fort Bragg has the largest SALT area in the country.  SALT has a myriad of services, programs and information available to Moore County residents.

Nancy is just one of many interesting speakers participating in the Kiwanis Club of Seven Lakes meetings. The Kiwanis Club of Seven Lakes meets each Tuesday at 12:00 Noon (11:30am optional lunch) in the Chapel of the Pines Fellowship Hall in Seven Lakes, NC.  Everyone is welcome to come and join them.  Visit their website “www.kiwanisclubofsevenlakes.org” for upcoming meetings and events.
