Sandhills PRIDE is accepting applications for its 2020 Scholarship. The scholarship is dedicated to assisting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, gender queer, and LGBTQ+ allied students in furthering their educations to become successful, productive adults. The scholarship is funded by individual donations and Sandhills PRIDE fundraisers.

“Our Scholarship program celebrates hardworking students who advocate for the LGBTQ+ community in the Sandhills,” says Michael Bleggi, Executive Director of Sandhills PRIDE. “These students are raising the bar for our area and will be the leaders of equality in the future as they are today.”

A total of up to $10,000 will be awarded in Sandhills PRIDE Scholarships in 2020. Up to four scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each will be available for students of any North Carolina accredited high school in the Sandhills region. Scholarship funds must be used for educational expenses. Awards will be distributed to the college, university, or vocational school upon receipt of a letter of acceptance and verification of enrollment.

Students can view the eligibility requirements and download a copy of the scholarship application on the Sandhills PRIDE website— https://www.sandhillspride.org/2018sandhillspridescholarshipapp/ — or they can reach out to their school’s counselor or scholarship coordinator. A complete scholarship application package, including recommendations, must be received by Sandhills PRIDE’s Scholarship Committee no later than March 16, 2020.
