The arrest of a Southern Pines man placed under a $25,000 secured bond was recently announced by Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields.
“On June 20, 2023, Detectives with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop in the 3700 block of U.S. Highway 1 Business in Vass,” said Fields in a press release. “During the traffic stop, Detectives conducted a search of the vehicle. As a result of the search, Detectives located crack cocaine and $454.00 in currency.”
Malcolm Smith, 26, is facing charges of felony possession of cocaine, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling place for controlled substances, destroying criminal evidence, and expired operator’s license.
The suspect is due in court on July 19 and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
