Sheriff's office concludes Carthage cocaine case

Detectives with the Moore County Sheriff’s Department confiscated cocaine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia on Oct. 20 after obtaining a search warrant for the Carthage area of the county.

The drug investigation was in the 1600 block of U.S. Highway 15-501, according to a news release by the Moore County Sheriff’s Department.

Kiyatta Jackson, 44, and Katherine Chandler, 30, both from Carthage, face several charges.

Jackson was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling place for controlled substances, simple possession of Schedule VI controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

Chandler was arrested and charged with felony possession of cocaine, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling place for controlled substances, simple possession of schedule VI controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

Jackson was placed at the Moore County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond, and Chandler received a $25,000 secured bond. Both are due in court on Nov. 15 and are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
