UPDATE: On Jan. 6, the Southern Pines Police Department announced Chase Terzui was arrested in Columbus County.
A man is in critical condition after being stabbed several times by his son Sunday afternoon, said Southern Pines Deputy Police Chief Charles Campbell. The incident happened on Cypress Circle, just off Saunders Boulevard in Southern Pines.
The man was transported by EMS to the helipad at Aberdeen Fire Station 42, just a few miles away from the incident. He was airlifted to an area trauma center in critical condition.
Law enforcement issued a bolo for the man’s 20-year-old son. According to law enforcement, the son, identified as Chase Terzui, took a GMC pickup truck from the residence when he fled the scene.
The truck was recovered in Brunswick County, however, Terzui is still at large.
Warrants for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, larceny of a motor vehicle and larceny of a firearm have been obtained for his arrest.
Terziu is believed to be in possession of a firearm and should be considered dangerous, said Campbell. If located, the public is urged to immediately contact law enforcement.
