Vehicle fire damages truck, threatens house in Cameron

Firefighters braved the frigid weather Saturday night for the second vehicle fire of the day in Moore County. Emergency units were dispatched around 10 p.m. to a residence on Jim S Road off of Shaw Road in Cameron after receiving a report of a vehicle fire.

The Moore County Sheriff’s Department was the first to arrive and confirmed an active fire. Due to the vehicle’s proximity to the residence, the call was briefly upgraded to a structure fire. However, mutual aid was canceled as the primary fire department quickly brought the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to the home.

The fire caused extensive damage to the bed of a Toyota truck. However, no injuries were reported.

This was the second vehicle fire near a residence in Moore County on Saturday that Sandhills Sentinel reported. Earlier in the day, two vehicles were damaged in a fire at a Robbins residence.

Responding agencies included the Cypress Pointe Fire Department and Moore County Sheriff’s Department.
