Pinecrest Wrestling

The Patriots hosted and competed in the 4A Mideast championship on Friday and Saturday. The Patriots continued their great season with another title. The Patriots finished the championship with 203.5 points to win. Patriots had four champions on the day; one runner up, one in third, and two to finish fourth.

The Patriots qualified eight wrestlers for the state tournament.

Pinecrest Boys Basketball

The Patriots finish the regular season with three conference wins. On Monday, they defeated Southern Lee, 79-43.  Tuesday, the Patriots pulled off a close win, 53-52. Thursday against county and conference rivals, the Patriots were able to take down Union Pines, 68-54.

Pinecrest Girls Basketball

The Lady Patriots won all three of their last conference games last week. On Monday, they defeated Southern Lee, 55-13. Tuesday, they defeated Hoke County, 65-31. Thursday, they hosted county and conference rivals Union Pines defeating them, 47-37. They finished their season 16-5 and 10-2 in the conference. The Lady Patriots finished second in the conference during the regular season. The Patriots finished the regular season 18-4 and 11-1 in the conference.

North Moore Boys Basketball

The North Moore Mustangs finish with seven straight losses. On Tuesday, the Mustangs traveled to Cummings for a conference game and lost, 74-38. They finished the season Wednesday against conference rivals Chatham Central and were defeated, 54-66. They finish the season 5-12 and 2-9 in the conference.

North Moore Girls Basketball

The Lady Mustangs finished their last two games of the regular season with losses. Tuesday at Cummings, the Mustangs, lost 52-25. Wednesday night, Chatham Central defeated the Mustangs, 53-21. The Lady Mustangs finish the regular season 3-14 and 1-10 in the conference.

O’Neal Girls Basketball

After winning regular-season conference title and going undefeated in the conference for the fifth straight season, the Lady Falcons were not done adding to their resume last week. The girls respectfully earned themselves a first-round bye in the conference tournament and home-court advantage. On Wednesday, the Lady Falcons took the court in the Tri-TAC conference semifinals against Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill. The 58-6 score did not seem like a tournament game. They continued the trend Friday night in the championship game defeating Trinity Academy, 60-19. 

The Lady Falcons will open their state tournament play at home on Tuesday night as a two-seed, against 6-9 Thales Academy-Apex. The time is TBA. 

O’Neal Boys Basketball

The boys made a run in the conference tournament last week before coming up short. In the first round, they defeated Trinity Academy, 66-45. Their run would come short In the semifinals after a 43-60 loss against Salem Baptist. 

The Falcons will host Thales Academy-Apex as a seven-seed on Tuesday. The time is TBA. 

O’Neal Swimming

The boys and girls varsity swim team will compete in the NCISAA Division 3 state championship on Tuesday at 2 p.m. 

Competing in the state championship are Victoria York, Lauren Hobbs, Chloe Abner, Michaela Stone, Morgan Lewis, Jordan Reed, Grace Simpson, Mo Samples, Ava Taylor Walker, Nathan Brianas, John Shepherd, Alex Grimshaw, Radford Walker, Jace Brown, Sam Schmitz, Charlie Kuzma, Henry Riebe, Andrew Davis, Carson Pusser, Mathew Fisher, Evan Williams, and Aiden Blackwell.

Union Pines Boys Basketball

The Vikings split their last two regular-season games last week. Getting the win at Southern Lee, 43-29, on Tuesday. Thursday, they lost to Pinecrest, 68-54. The Vikings finish the regular season 17-6 and 7-5 in the conference.

Union Pines Girls Basketball

The Lady Vikings defeated Southern Lee on Tuesday, 61-10. The Laky Vikings couldn’t keep that going Thursday night against county and conference rival Pinecrest. The girls lost, 47-37. The Lady Vikings ended their season 13-10 and 7-5 in the conference.

Union Pines Wrestling

The Vikings hosted and won the 3A Mideast championship last weekend. The Vikings also had several state championship qualifiers.

SCC Flyers Men’s Basketball

The Flyers added two more wins last week making them 9-0 in the conference.  Against Central Carolina CC on Wednesday, the Flyers won, 104-89. On Saturday, the Flyers defeated Dabney S. Lancaster CC and won, 97-80. The Flyers have two games left in the regular season. 

Tuesday at 6 p.m. against C​ombine  Academy at 6 p.m.

Thursday against Dabney S Lancaster CC at 7 p.m. for a conference game.
