Stirring up excitement: Caribou Coffee coming to Southern Pines

There’s a latte love about Caribou Coffee coming to Southern Pines. Known for its commitment to sustainable practices, Caribou Coffee promises a menu brimming with handcrafted beverages, which is certainly grounds for excitement for local coffee enthusiasts.

Caribou Coffee will be on Highway 15-501 near Hickory Tavern. According to a Caribou company representative who spoke with Sandhills Sentinel, Caribou Coffee will open by the end of summer. It will feature a convenient drive-thru, outdoor dining and pick-up window (no interior seating).

Customers can expect an expansive menu, from hot chocolate mochas to fan-favorite iced caramel lattes. Caribou also offers alternatives for non-coffee drinkers, including hot and iced teas.

The Caribou representative explained that Caribou Coffee is known for its commitment to sustainable practices and making a difference, which is reflected in the company’s coffee.

“Caribou Coffee serves 100% Rainforest Alliance Certified coffee beans and crafts each menu item with the purpose to create day-making experiences,” explained the representative. “This passion for premium is also why Caribou Coffee makes every handcrafted beverage with only high-quality ingredients, like real chocolate chips, and no artificial flavors, colors, sweeteners, or preservatives.”

Additionally, guests can peruse Caribou’s food menu, including a variety of breakfast sandwiches, baked goods, lunch items, and snacks.

Though Caribou Coffee was founded in Minnesota in 1992, it has been expanding with incredible speed. “Our founders opened the doors of the very first coffeehouse with a vision to build personal connection into the coffeehouse experience,” recalled the Caribou representative. “More than 30 years later, Caribou Coffee’s purpose of creating day-making experiences that spark a chain reaction of good for our team, guests, and community fuels our growth.”

Today, Caribou Coffee serves “handcrafted coffee-forward beverages and craveable food” in more than 800 coffeehouses worldwide. As Caribou Coffee continues to expand nationwide, this is the third new location slated to open this year in North Carolina, and there are already 10 Caribou Coffee locations established in the state.

For every transaction during the grand opening weekend, Caribou Coffee will donate $1 to a local nonprofit, which will be revealed closer to the new location’s opening.

Caribou Coffee will be built at 9745 U.S. Highway 15-501 in Southern Pines, near Fairway Village, the plaza where Hickory Tavern is located.
