A 5-year-old boy from Aberdeen is close to becoming the 2025 Jr. Ranger, winning $20,000, meeting wildlife expert and television personality, Jeff Corwin, and appearing in a Ranger Rick magazine.
Beau Christoper is competing in the National Wildlife Federation’s Jr. Ranger Competition, a nationwide contest for children passionate about conservation. The competition supports the National Wildlife Federation’s mission to “unite all Americans to ensure wildlife and people thrive in a rapidly changing world.”
Beau is currently in third place in his group to be the next Jr. Ranger.
Since age 2, Beau has connected to the outdoors, plants and animals.
“He can name over 50+ plants and tell you how each of them survives, what they like and don’t like and some even where they are from,” said Beau’s family on the Jr. Ranger organization’s website. “His love for animals, reptiles, plants and nature is out of this world. He even has a couple of his own reptiles. He has two bearded dragons and three ball pythons that he helps take care of on a daily basis.”
Beau’s favorite animal is the tiger.
“Beau says they are his favorite because of their unique stripes and sounds and how enormous they can get,” said his family. “He also loves how much they love water, just like him. He is very fascinated with them, and also with many more animals and reptiles. If you ask Beau on a regular day, he will tell you, ‘All of them are my favorite because they all need love.'”
Beau loves all outdoor activities, but he has a favorite.Â
“His favorite outdoor activity is walking out at our county lake with his walking stick, handcrafted by his Wildlife Homestead living Big Poppy”, said Beau’s family. “He goes hunting with his Daddy every season, to learn the traditional way of life and how to put food on the table. Anything to do with nature, plants, or wildlife has this boy’s attention from the time he wakes up until he goes to bed and restarts the next day. He’s obsessed with the outdoors, and we absolutely love that about him.”
