The Flats at the Exchange brings new option to Vass

A new apartment community is scheduled to open in Vass. The Flats at the Exchange promises spacious layouts and a community founded on convenience and comfort. Each apartment will feature two bedrooms and two baths. Each unit has its own washer and dryer connection, and residents have an opportunity to rent those appliances.

Additionally, tenants are allowed to have pets.

The community is being managed by MCL Property Management, a firm based in Southern Pines. The plan is for residents to begin occupancy on July 1.

“We are the property managers for this new apartment complex,” Mary Ann Davis, who serves as marketing and communications manager for MCL, said.

Cost is a concern in just about every facet of life, from the price of food and gas to rental and condo fees. According to Mary Ann, affordability won’t be an issue at the complex.

“They are very well priced,” she said about the apartment complex located at 520 Trove Lane. “They give people an option.”

MCL feels the time is right to invest in Vass.

“Vass is growing,” Mary Ann, employed by MCL since 2019, said. “The town itself has a lot of new businesses coming in. It’s a prime location for Moore County.”

In 2010, the population of Vass was listed at 720. By 2020, that number grew to 952. Situated in eastern Moore County, Vass is 17 miles south of Sanford and nine miles from Southern Pines. Proximity to Fort Bragg is also a plus.

So far, most of the prospective residents are from nearby areas.

“They’re coming from Moore County, from other apartment units,” Mary Ann advised. “We’ve had quite a few responses.”

Shawn McNicol, an administrator with MCL, said, “They are not (furnished). One or two will be furnished as models.”

Furnished models give people ideas about a unit’s potential.

“As far as the inside, it’s modern,” Mary Ann said. “The kitchens are modern kitchens. They’re energy efficient.”

Energy efficiency means using less energy to provide the same amount of service. The practice reduces costs and limits environmental harm by lowering greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants. An added benefit of the approach is that it can reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

A pool for the complex is currently under construction.

Once the first structure is ready for occupants, another set of units will open shortly thereafter.

According to MCL’s website, all prospective tenants must tour properties in person or be represented by a licensed real estate agent during a video tour.

Owned by Amy Stonesifer, MCL Property Management prides itself on providing a high level of customer service. Natalee Berge is the finance manager. Along with Vass, the company has rental properties in Aberdeen, Cameron, Carthage, Pinebluff, Pinehurst, Raeford, Southern Pines, Seven Lakes/West End and Whispering Pines. Its office is on N Ashe Street, in a building shared with Maison Real Estate.
