Maribel Matochick, a nurse who cares for patients at Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, is the most recent winner of the DAISY Award, which recognizes nurses who go above and beyond fulfilling FirstHealth’s core purpose – To Care for People.
This is the second time Matochick has been honored with the DAISY Award. Matochick was nominated by a patient who spent several days on the 3 Medical unit at Moore Regional.
“I’ve been privileged to meet and witness the nursing talents of many while I was at Moore Regional,” the patient wrote.
“But when I met Maribel, I met someone whose life mission was to be the best nurse possible. Maribel embodies all the characteristics of a special nurse: attention to detail, endless energy, a sense of humor, patient advocacy, empathy, compassion and, of course, all the vital processes and knowledge involved in being a nurse.”
Leigh Anna DeBerry, Matochick’s manager, said that Maribel is devoted to delivering exceptional, patient-centered care.
“Maribel is a wonderful nurse who combines clinical excellence with genuine compassion,” DeBerry said in a FirstHealth news release. “She not only provides exceptional care but also makes patients and families feel seen, heard and valued during some of life’s most difficult moments.”
Today, more than 2,800 health care facilities in all 50 states and 17 other countries honor their nurses with the DAISY Award.
