He later attended Roger Williams College before moving to Colorado, where he owned and operated a successful roofing contracting business for 15 years.

After returning to the East Coast, Scott made his home in the Pinehurst area of North Carolina. He spent 20 years working at Pinehurst Resort, Course No. 8, before retiring. Never one to stay idle, he founded Goodfellow Home Service, a home improvement contracting business that reflected his strong work ethic and craftsmanship.

Scott embraced life in the Sandhills community. He was an active member of the VFW, the Elks, and the Sandhills Shag Club, where he enjoyed dancing and formed many lasting friendships. It was there that he met the love of his life, Kathryne “Kathy” Wood Goodfellow. Together they shared 25 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and companionship.

Scott will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his dedication to family and friends, his willingness to lend a helping hand, and his easygoing nature.
