A teenager escaped with only minor injuries after rolling his car on Midland Road in Southern Pines Thursday evening.
The single vehicle accident occurred between Leak Street and Crestview Road.
The 17-year-old driver of a Chevy Equinox was headed east towards the downtown area when he ran off the right hand side of the road and overturning. The car ended upside down at the edge of a driveway, and the teenager managed to immediately get out of the SUV before help arrived on scene. The driver was not transported to the hospital.
Due to his age, authorities waited for his parents to arrive on the scene.
One lane of Midland Road was shut down while crews worked to control and clear the scene. Southern Pines Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
Responding to the scene were Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, and Southern Pines Police Department.
