Two teenagers are accused of stealing a car, according to a news release from the Aberdeen Police Department.
The vehicle was stolen on Jan. 31 in the Berkley community in Aberdeen.
“The victim reported she was inside a residence picking up her child for several minutes, and when she returned outside, her vehicle had been stolen,” said the Aberdeen Police Department. “Aberdeen units responded to the general area and were eventually able to locate and recover the stolen vehicle. The vehicle was processed by investigators, and the neighborhood was canvassed for information. Investigators were able to successfully obtain latent fingerprints, as well as receive witness testimony in reference to the stolen vehicle.”
Investigators obtained search warrants and identified the suspects as 14 and 16-year-old males from Aberdeen.
“On February 29, 2024, Aberdeen Investigators obtained juvenile petitions on the juveniles, through Moore County Juvenile Justice for Felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle,” said Aberdeen Police Department. “On March 26, 2024, the juvenile petitions were fulfilled and will be processed through Moore County Juvenile Court.”
The police did not disclose the identities or photographs of the suspects as they are minors.
All suspects and persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
