Three arrested following Carthage drug investigation

Sheriff Ronnie Fields announced on Friday that three people were arrested following the execution of a search warrant in the Carthage area of Moore County.

On August 28, detectives with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant in the 100 block of Wave Road in Carthage. During the search, detectives reportedly seized suspected fentanyl, cocaine, and items of drug paraphernalia.

As a result of the investigation, Kane Avonce, 29, of Carthage, was arrested and is facing charges of felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance, felony possession of cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Avonce was committed to the Moore County Detention Center on a 48-hour hold with no bond and is scheduled to appear in Moore County District Court on September 18.

Also arrested were Christina Saunders, 43, and Susan Lira, 45, both of Carthage. Saunders and Lira are each facing charges of possession of drug paraphernalia. Saunders was issued a $3,000 secured bond, while Lira was placed on a 48-hour hold with no bond. Both are scheduled to appear in Moore County District Court on September 18.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
