Three arrested in stolen golf cart case

The Aberdeen Police Department announced the arrest of Mark Matthews, 66, of Carthage, Ken Turney, 48, of Carthage, and Tiffany Johnson, 35, of Vass, in connection with a stolen golf cart investigation.

On June 30, Aberdeen officers responded to Icon Golf Carts, located in the Center Park shopping center, about a stolen golf cart. Officers obtained video footage of the event, which showed three individuals loading a golf cart into a trailer being towed by a black Chevrolet Silverado.

On July 3, Aberdeen investigators reviewed surveillance footage and posted images on social media and shared them with local law enforcement. Through further investigation, the suspects’ identities and addresses were confirmed.

“While investigators were on their way to one of the residences, investigators observed a black Chevrolet towing a trailer with a golf cart, matching the vehicle seen in the footage traveling on US-I,” said the police department in a news release. “A traffic stop was conducted, during which the occupants were identified as Mark Owen Matthews, Ken Sullivan Turney, and Tiffany Christine Johnson.”

Aberdeen investigators arrested the three individuals on charges of felony larceny and felony possession of stolen goods. They were taken to the Moore County jail without bond.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
