Three-vehicle wreck shuts down highway in Robbins

A three-vehicle wreck occurred around 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday on Highway 24/27 at Crabtree Road in Robbins.

One of the drivers was sent to the hospital as a precaution by EMS. He was driving a Ford pickup truck.

According to Robbins Fire Chief Timmy Brown, the driver of the Ford pickup was heading east and getting ready to turn when a sedan also heading east rear-ended him. The impact caused the sedan’s rear to go into the westbound lane, where a service truck hit the back of the car.

The collision caused heavy rear-end damage to the Ford pickup, severe damage to the front and rear of the sedan, and the service truck lost a driver’s side tire.

The pickup truck stopped nearly 70 yards from where the service truck came to rest.

Both the driver and the passenger in the sedan were unharmed. The driver of the service truck was also not injured.
