The Town of Southern Pines experienced a discharge of untreated wastewater on Friday, Feb. 7, of an estimated 800 gallons along a sewer right-of-way near the 100 block of South Leak Street. The untreated wastewater was discharged into McDeeds Creek.
The Town of Southern Pines Utilities Division was notified of the event at approximately 2:46 p.m. on Feb. 7.
“The release was mitigated at approximately 3:35 p.m. with repairs and cleanup/sanitizing efforts,” said the town in a news advisory.
