Aberdeen officials provided an update on replacing the Aberdeen Lake pedestrian bridge. In Aberdeen’s recent Bon Accord newsletter, the town said the project to replace the bridge damaged by Tropical Storm Chantal last summer is moving forward.
The bidding process and contract awards are scheduled to take place by the end of September. Construction should last 60-90 days. Water levels will be lowered during construction. The new bridge should open by the end of January 2027, assuming no storms or other unforeseen obstacles. The trail and the area near the bridge will be closed at times, and the public should not attempt to access the bridge.
The town secured FEMA funding, and the replacement is expected to cost $410,000.
