Traffic study scheduled near Stars Charter School

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will conduct a traffic study along U.S. Highway 1 near Stars Charter School in Vass beginning Monday, Sept.15.

NCDOT has requested that Moore County Sheriff’s deputies suspend morning traffic control operations at the school starting September 15, pending the outcome of the study. They will evaluate natural traffic flow patterns in the area during morning drop-off and determine whether any adjustments are needed to improve safety and efficiency along the highway.

Future decisions regarding traffic control will follow the department’s review and recommendations once the study is complete.

“The Moore County Sheriff’s Office appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation during this evaluation and reminds all drivers to remain alert when traveling along U.S. Highway 1 near the school,” said Chief Deputy Andy Conway with the Moore County Sheriff’s Department.

The school is encouraging families to allow extra time in the morning, use extra caution entering and exiting the campus, and show patientce and care toward drivers

“We know everyone involved has the same goal: a safer US-1 for everyone. If you have concerns, we encourage you to share your perspective with local leaders as they consider long-term improvements,” said the school on its social media page. “Above all, the safety of our children and families remains our top priority. Thank you for working together to keep our community safe.”
