Trailer theft suspect extradited back to Moore County

A Carthage man has been extradited back to Moore County to face larceny-related charges.

Moore County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that Marcus Singleton, 46, has been charged with one count each of felony larceny, felony possession of stolen goods, and felony obtaining property by false pretense.

Last summer, a trailer and equipment were stolen in Carthage. Singleton was identified as a suspect in the case but fled North Carolina before being apprehended, according to the news report.

“Singleton was located and taken into custody in Virginia on unrelated charges in January of 2022,” said Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields in the news advisory.

He was extradited back to Moore County on Feb. 25 and is being held on a $50,000 bond at the detention center.

The suspect is due in court on March 30 and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
