Two escape injury Aberdeen accident

Two people escaped serious injury after an accident in Aberdeen Monday. The accident occurred in front of ALDI grocery store on U.S. Highway 1 at 6 p.m.

The two car accident left a pickup truck on its side in the road, and extensive front end damage to a Hyundai sedan.

The driver of the pickup was transported to the hospital by EMS with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Hyundai was treated at the scene by EMS and did not require transport.

The accident occurred in the northbound lanes of Highway 1, and both lanes were shut down while emergency crews worked. After a short while, they were able to open one lane of traffic.

Rockwell Towing responded to the scene, flipped the truck back onto its wheels, and towed it from the scene. This allowed all lanes of traffic to reopen.

Aberdeen Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

Responding to the scene were Aberdeen Fire & Rescue and Moore County EMS.
