Two injured in single-vehicle accident near Taylortown

Two people were injured in a single-vehicle accident Saturday evening near Taylortown. An SUV ended up down an embankment off of Highway 211 East.

The condition of both passengers is unknown at this time.

Two helicopters were initially dispatched to the scene, however, Sandhills Sentinel can only confirm that one person was airlifted.

There was extensive damage to the vehicle and damage to a power pole. Officials on the scene stated that the area around the vehicle was unsafe due to the damaged pole and power lines.

Both lanes of Highway 211 West remained open, while only the inside lane of Highway 211 East allowed traffic to pass. The accident is still under investigation.
