Arrest made in Taylortown shooting

A shooting occurred in Taylotown on Juniper Lake Road, near Walker Street, on Sunday just before 6 p.m. The unidentified victim was shot twice and drove to Moore Regional Hospital and has been released. 

The person accused of the shooting was arrested on Thursday after warrants were obtained and a countywide bolo went to all law enforcement, said Taylortown Police Chief Michael Hobgood to Sandhills Sentinel.

West End resident Derrikes McRae, 48, was arrested on charges of attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a felon, and assault by pointing a gun.

He was jailed at the Moore County Detention Center with no bond and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
