A four-vehicle accident shut down Highway 690 east sending two victims to Moore Regional Hospital Wednesday afternoon.

The accident happened just past 3 p.m.; a few miles outside of Vass towards Woodlake.

Two cars, two pickup trucks and a heavy duty trailer were involved in the wreck, according to Frank Staples with Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue.

It appears two of the vehicles are a total loss.

“Highway 690 was partially shut down for about half an hour and totally shut down for about an hour,” said Staples.

Authorities did not release the names of the victims or the cause of the accident.

Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene, and North Carolina State Highway Patrol is the investigating agency.
