Sandhills Machine U16 and U13 both finished up a long weekend of basketball by winning championships at United States Speciality Sports Association (AlwaysLive) North Carolina State Championships in Greensboro on Memorial Day weekend.

Sandhills Machine U16 coached by Howard Coe, was outmanned and undersized throughout the tournament; however, they found a way to be successful with tenacious defense, mixed with a barrage of three point field goal attempts and relentlessly attacking the other teams bigger players.

It was a team effort led by the selected Most Valuable Player Omarian Morrison.

“For three years this championship has been so elusive to five of the players, Brown, Young, Harrington, Morrison and Hockaday. Their accomplishment brought worth to my heart and water to my eyes,” said Coach Cash Sutton, President of the Sandhills Machine.

Sandhills Machine U13 came up big in a triple overtime to seal their three-peat as USSSA NC State Champions. They were led by selected Most Valuable Player Jared Davis who acknowledged that it was truly a team effort.

Sandhills Machine U13 team is something special that they continue to bring major championships back to the Sandhills as five time national champions and three time state champions. As teammates they continue to build upon their culture of winning.
