A wanted West End woman was arrested after being accused of selling a PlayStation 5 box without the console to a man in the Walmart parking lot in Aberdeen.
Aberdeen Police said the investigation began when they were called to Walmart on May 15.
“Officers determined the victim was meeting an individual in the parking lot to buy a PlayStation 5, a transaction that was agreed upon via Facebook Marketplace,” said the police department in a press release on June 5. “The victim advised the individual gave him a PlayStation 5 box containing an item and he provided her with $300 in cash; he realized after the individual left that the box did not contain a PlayStation 5.”
The man gave a description of the woman, her vehicle, and her passenger. After the police used social media and continued to investigate, Samiyah Brower, 24, was identified as a suspect.
Warrants were obtained for Brower on felony counts of obtaining property by false pretenses and conspiracy. Attempts were made to locate Brower, but she was not immediately apprehended in Aberdeen.
The Moore County Sheriff’s Office located Brower nearly two weeks later on May 28.
She was jailed under a $5,000 secured bond.
All charges are allegations, and Brower is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
