A winter drawdown of Blue Lake in Whispering Pines will begin in December.
The Village announced on its website that the winter drawdown will assist with aquatic weed control, allow lakefront residents to clean waterfront areas, make needed dock/bulkhead repairs, and allow Public Works to make adjustments to the spillway trash rack.
The lakefront residents were surveyed by the Lakes and Watershed Board Lake representative, with most of the residents in favor of the drawdown and looking forward to taking advantage of the lower water level.
The attempt to lower the water level will begin no earlier than Dec. 1 and stop no later than Feb. 1. The drawdown level will not exceed 3 feet. There is a good probability that Blue Lake can be returned to recreational use by the Memorial Day holiday.
