Aberdeen dispute leads to drug, weapon charges

A Raeford man is facing charges after Aberdeen police investigated a report of a possible domestic dispute between a man and a woman and the man “brandishing a firearm” at the Circle K gas station in Aberdeen.

According to the Aberdeen Police Department, the man was reported to have left the scene in a “late-model Chevrolet truck,” and a license plate number was provided. Aberdeen investigators then began investigating and conducted a welfare check at a residence on Pinebluff Lake Road near Highway 15-501.

The suspect was identified as Luciano Cazares-Baltazar, 35 years of age, of Raeford. He was found inside the truck at the property, as described by witnesses.

“As investigators approached the vehicle and detained Cazares-Baltazar, a bag containing suspected methamphetamine was observed in plain view on the center console,” reports the Aberdeen Police Department. “Cazares-Baltazar announced that he had just used the narcotic and it was for his personal use; he was placed under arrest for the possession, and the truck was subsequently searched. Investigators located used glass pipes, and then found a firearm concealed in a hidden compartment underneath the center console.”

Aberdeen investigators continued to speak with neighbors and family members until the female party was eventually located and confirmed to be safe.

Cazares-Baltazar was charged with Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Carrying a Concealed Gun, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was taken before a Moore County Magistrate and given a $5,000 secured bond.

All suspects and persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
