An Aberdeen man has been arrested on multiple felony charges after he allegedly added unauthorized tips to customers’ credit card transactions while working at a Domino’s restaurant.
In a news release, the Aberdeen Police Department states that officers responded on March 13 to a Domino’s location after receiving a report of a larceny by an employee, which had previously occurred.
According to authorities, officers met with the store manager, obtained statements, interviewed customers, and reviewed surveillance footage. Investigators allege that the employee, identified as Frederick Cooper, 18, of Aberdeen, added tips to customers’ credit card charges without authorization after customers placed their orders.
Based on the investigation, warrants were obtained charging Cooper with felony larceny by employee, felony embezzlement, felony obtaining property by false pretenses, and felony attempted obtaining property by false pretenses, police said.
Authorities said Cooper was later located and taken into custody. He appeared before a Cumberland County magistrate and was ordered held without bond as a condition of pretrial release.
All charges are allegations, and Cooper is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
